

She was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana, lived in Cameron for over 25 years, and had been a resident of Sulphur since Hurricane Rita. A shy, simple woman, she had a great love for the Lord, her family, and good Cajun food and music. She was known for her kind generosity to many various charities and always tried to adhere to the golden rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
Wilma is survived by her children, Jean R. Picou Jr. and Anna of Patterson, Gwendolyn Kester and Deon of Maurice, Jerome A. Picou and Sylvia of Sulphur, and Faith Vallette and Jonathan of Sulphur; five sisters, Selma, Anne, Shirley, Grace and Francis; one brother, Herbert Landry; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren; and her niece and caregiver, Sheila Carriere.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jean R. Picou Sr.; daughters, Angela Powell and Karen Sisson; one grandson, Justin Picou; and a host of loved ones and friends.
Her funeral will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sulphur at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017. The Rev. Herb Bennifield will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home of Sulphur with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
