Yvonne left us for a better place on January 8th, 2011 at Good Sam Hospital in Puyallup, WA . She was born on April 29th 1943 at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA to parents William and Mary Simpson. She was the oldest of three girls. Both her sisters, Mary and Colleen still live in Tacoma. She spent her youth in Tacoma and graduated from
Lincoln High school in 1961. She worked as a hair dresser and bartender but her main job in life was a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a mother to three sons Mark, Nick and Mike, and a Mother in law to Mark's wife Tammy. She was blessed with four grandchildren Josh, Justin, Jenna, and Jace, and in October became a great grandmother to Wyatt. Over the years she touched many hearts with her kindness, her compassion and her overall will to treat every person she came across with love. Wether it was talking to the checkout person at the store or making sure her boy's 18th birthday party keg didnt go dry (yes she always collected the keys). She always made sure everyone had a great time and she smiled when they did. If you are reading this you have probably witnessed her at a get-together as she was fussing to make
sure everything was just perfect and that there was no way we were going to run out of anything. After settleing in the Puyallup Valley you could find her on fall friday nights in the stands at Sparks Stadium rooting on the Puyallup High school football team. Later in life she took on the role as caregiver to her husband Walter until his passing in 1999, which she did with no reservations and with the same spirit she took on any other thing she did in her life, and she will be buried by his side. She loved spending time with her friends playing bunco, hitting the slot machines, or a weekend away in Canon
Beach. She loved the ocean and could spend hours there just listening to the waves crash into the beach. She could always be counted on for whatever you needed: a last minute babysitter on a friday night, a warm meal at dinner time because you "happened" to be in the area, or someone who would just lend an ear to anyone who needed it. Many of
her sons friends considered her a second mom and she gladly accepted them into her heart. She was Mom plain and simple and we loved her for always being there. Around the holidays you could almost count on "old" kids from the neighborhood to drop in on their way to their own family functions to say hi and have a holiday "treat". She will be
deeply missed by all who got to know her. Her services will be held at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery at 1:00pm on January 21st, 2011. Followed by a reception at her home. Flowers may be sent to Powers Funeral Home 320 W.
Pioneer Ave. Puyallup, WA 98371.
