

Albert “Al” Laks, a proud World War II U.S. Army Veteran, 88, late of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away suddenly on August 18, 2014. Al was born in Chicago, IL, to the late Fanny (nee Weitz) and Phillip Laks.
Al is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife of 65 years, Pearl (nee Bergman) Laks. He was the dear father of Susan Laks-Olsen and Stuart (wife Saylor) Laks; proud grandfather of Jeremy (wife Patricia) Olsen, Phillip (wife Jaime Frechette) Laks and Kelsey Laks; adoring great grandfather of Matthew, Danny, Stefanie, Alexandra (deceased), Jeremy Jr, (“J.J.”) and Abigail; and loving brother of the late Clara Walker Herman, Mary Myerson and Marcia Creinin. Al will also be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Al was the former owner of “Al’s Deli” in Homewood, Illinois. He was a real “mensch”, an American patriot and a great friend to many who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024. Phone: 480-513-3600. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Al’s name made to either the Freedom Honor Flight (www.freedomhonorflight.org) or Magen David Adom (www.afmda.org) would be appreciated.
Cemetery Directions:
From Loop 101, exit Cave Creek and turn North bound (passing Holy Redeemer Cemetery) to Pinnacle Peak Rd. Turn right (east) on Pinnacle Peak Rd. and the cemetery entrance will be on your right, approximately ¼ mi. Once you are in the Cemetery, you will see a digital board with the name of Mr. Laks and in which Shelter the service will be held. Please follow the signs to the shelter.
