Anne Elizabeth Ahern

Anne Elizabeth (Witmer) Ahern of Peoria, Arizona peacefully passed away on February 24, 2023 at the age of 85. Born in Des Moines, Iowa to H. Pierce and Helen (Lusby) Witmer, she was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Northwestern University (Evanston, IL). After college, Anne worked in Chicago as an IBM System’s Engineer until she married Thomas Ahern (whom she met at IBM) in 1966. Anne and Tom resided together in a Chicago apartment until their only child, Sally Anne was born in 1968, and they moved to a house in the suburbs (Buffalo Grove, IL). Many wonderful friends and memories were made while living there. In 1995, Anne and Tom moved to Sun City West, AZ where they enjoyed 19 years of bowling, golfing, bocce ball, mini golf, card playing, outdoor grilling, BINGO, Mahjongg, and time with family and friends. In 2014, they moved to a senior living complex in Peoria, AZ where they took full advantage of numerous activities and amenities.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Pierce, and by her loving husband, Tom to whom she was married for 49 years. She is survived by her daughter Sally Ahern, sister Sally Ehlert, best friend Nancy Freund, and many nieces and nephews.

Anne will be laid to rest in Sunland Memorial Park Garden of the Good Shepherd, 15826 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ.
