

July 27, 1935, in Dearborn, Missouri, and grew up in Falcon, Colorado area. He was preceded
in death by his father, William O. Edwards; his mother and stepfather, Evelyn Marie Bishop and
Vincent L. Bishop; brothers, Vincent L. Bishop, Jr., Norell Bishop, and Edward Bishop; sister,
Nancy Bishop Wendt. Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Sheila Bishop of the
home; his children Billy E. Bishop, Jr. of Apple Valley, California and Susan Bishop Fisher
(Brent) of Marble Falls, Texas; Grandson, Billy E. Bishop, III (Courtney); great grandchildren
Anderson Bishop, Griffin Bishop, Hannah Moeller and great-great grandson, Cooper Anderson.
He was also survived by his siblings, Shelby Bishop, Janice Saxe, Marilyn Lister, Ted Edwards,
Veronica Shelton and David Edwards, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Billy had a long and illustrious career with the United States Army from 1957 to 1983. He rose
through the ranks and was commissioned as a warrant officer in 1966. Billy served five
overseas tours - two tours in Germany and Korea and one tour in Vietnam. During his career,
Billy was awarded the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal
with four (4) Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, Army
Commendation Medal with 5th Oak Leaf Clover, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation,
Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct
Medal with 3rd Award, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Meritorious Service
Medal with 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster. Billy had the honor of serving in the Warrant Officer Division in
Washington, D.C. from 1978 to 1980. In 1981, he was stationed to Ft. Carson, Colorado, where
he retired on September 30, 1983. After his retirement, Billy specialized in military relocation for
Merit Real Estate in Colorado Springs. In 2013, Billy and his wife, Sheila relocated to Sun City
West, Arizona. Billy’s greatest joys in life were his 67 years of marriage, his family, and his
honorable and dedicated service to his country. A memorial service will be held in Spring, 2022
in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
