Catherine Marie Heffernan

Catherine Heffernan began her life in Chicago, IL on November 25, 1958. Cathy was the youngest of 4, born to Ervin and Lucille Houdek. She was preceded in death by her siblings Paul, Randall, and Mary Lou. Catherine grew up in Cicero, IL where she met her future husband Daniel through some mutual friends. Daniel and Catherine got married in 1979. After a year of marriage they welcomed a Son, Daniel Jr. A few years later they welcomed another Son, Matthew. Cathy and Dan moved to Frankfort, IL where they raised their boys. Daniel got married to Judy and have two sons, Arran and Daniel. Cathy loved Matthew’s two dogs and often referred to Holli and the late Jack as her Grand puppies.Cathy has many Nieces and Nephews. In 2013 Catherine began her battle with cancer. She fought hard but the cold winters were getting to her. Cathy and Dan decided to move to Sun City West in 2018. They enjoyed the hot days swimming and exploring AZ. Then in 2020 Catherine suffered a stroke while still battling her cancer. Cathy was a fighter and never gave up, she fought till the very end, when she developed pneumonia and passed away on June 23, 2023. In Catherine’s 64 short years she made many lifelong friends. Throughout her life, Cathy touched the lives of those around her with her kindness, compassion, and love. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, sense of humor, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Cathy’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate to have known her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories that will continue to inspire and comfort us all. Let’s all raise a glass and celebrate Cathy!
