

Catherine (Photopoulos) Pallad, 87, of Glendale, known for her generous heart, amazing cooking, supremacy at Scrabble, and fabulous laugh, passed peacefully on June 22. Born in New York City, she earned a BS in Chemistry at Hunter College before marrying her beloved, Tom Pallad. They enjoyed 54 beautiful years together as they moved to California and raised five children, living in San Mateo, Chatsworth, and Woodland Hills, CA, before moving to Glendale, AZ.
Cathy’s favorite activity was spending time with her family. She was devoted to her Greek Orthodox faith and sang with a beautiful alto voice in the church choirs in Belmont and Northridge, CA, and Peoria, AZ. She loved children and served many years as principal and teacher at St. Nicholas School in Northridge.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tom Pallad, her daughter, Helen Pallad Kennedy, and her sister, Helen Photopoulos, as well as her parents, Steve and Bessie Photopoulos. She is survived by her children, Rae (Willard) Simms of Woodland Hills, CA, Rev. Michael (Kristin) Pallad of Glendale, AZ, Eva (Chris) Canellos of Woodside, CA, and Steve Pallad of Foster City, CA, and her grandchildren, Alexandra Pallad, Megan Pallad, and Christian Canellos.
Visitation will be on Sun., June 25, 4-7 pm, with a Trisagion service at 6 pm, at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City. The funeral will be Mon., June 26, at 10 am, at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7950 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Peoria.
