Colleen was born in Iowa, in a little town named North English. At a very young age, she struggled through the World War II era. She was forced to drop out of school to help support her family when she was in the seventh grade. During that time, Colleen earned money by detasseling corn and waking up early in the mornings to help her brother with milk deliveries to local colleges. Colleen grew up to be very interested in ceramics, bowling and collecting teddy bears and often received teddy bears from her children and grandchildren from time to time. Colleen is very interested in movies starring Clark Gable and any type of western music. Colleen was married to Cecil for 59 years. They had four boys, who now live in Arizona, Washington, Colorado and Ireland. Colleen loves to help other people, no matter what the situation is. She has a weak spot for people who need help.
