Crystal Dawn Abreu

Crystal Dawn Abreu (Thompson), age 71, passed away at her home in Glendale, AZ, on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. She was born on September 2, 1946 in Burns, Oregon to Arthur and Mona (Merry) Thompson. In 1964, Crystal graduated from Shadle Park High School in Spokane, WA. From 1964/65, she attended Washington State University in Pullman, WA and in 1965, attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA. On June 4, 1966, she married John F. Codington in Milwaukee, OR. Together, they had two sons - Michael and Mark. Crystal and John lived in Reedsport, OR from 1968 to 1976 when they moved to Grants Pass, OR. Crystal and John divorced in 1979.

On August 30, 1980 she married Ralph C. Abreu in Las Vegas, NV. Crystal and Ralph lived in Eugene, OR from 1980 to 1988. Crystal worked for several doctors in Eugene as a Medical Assistant. Crystal and Ralph then moved to Glendale, AZ when Ralph was transferred to the area with First Interstate Bank. Crystal continued to work as a Medical Assistant for several doctors and clinics in the area up until 2004. In 2002, Crystal was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Through chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she beat her Cancer into submission and remained Cancer free ever since. Crystal loved traveling and had traveled to many countries outside of the US. She was in the middle of finalizing arrangements for an upcoming trip to Australia in March 2018. She loved cooking and shopping - and particularly loved investing. Nothing made her happier than to have her modest investments substantially grow because of the research she did to make investment decisions.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael and Mark; 3 step-children, Wayne, Tanya, and Denis; 4 grandchildren, 11 step-grandkids, and 3 nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 7:30pm at Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary & Crematorium, 5826 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ. Burial is planned sometime early next year at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona where her husband Ralph is also buried.
