

Debra was born on November 19, 1951, at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was raised in Bethel, Ohio where she attended school until she was a sophomore. Debra moved with her family to Los Lunas, New Mexico where she graduated High School in 1969. She began her collegiate education at Pasadena Nazarene College and finished her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Cincinnati, as well as her master’s degree. Debra had a passion and love for special needs children. She dedicated her career of 38 years teaching these loving children. She received many honors and accolades for her work. She spent several summers teaching and sharing with students at MidAmerica Nazarene University who were majoring in Special Education. Debra’s true calling was sharing her love of the Lord with others, especially women. She was an exceptional leader of Women’s Bible studies, as well as a mentor. Debra had an adventurous spirit manifested through her love of travel. She embarked on unforgettable journeys across Europe, Mexico, Canada and the United States with her husband and family. Her favorite place was anywhere where there was water.
Debra leaves behind a circle of loved ones who will remember her with great fondness. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 26 years, Douglas Egelston. She was a devoted mother to Chrystal (Matt Seaman), Brandon Miller (Melissa), Lesley Trammel, Jenna (Kurt Whitehill), and Mary Kate Egelston. Debra was an adoring Grandma EE to Hailey, Maggie, Ella, Dylan, Noah, Bryce, Payton, and Lindy. She was a loving sister to Connie Comfort.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Marjorie Moore, father-in-law Jerry Egelston, and her brother-in-law Mark Comfort.
To honor Debra Marlane Egelston’s life and legacy, a Celebration of Life will take place at Turning Leaf Church of the Nazarene (Litchfield Park, AZ), on April 5, 2024 at 11:00AM.
