

Don was preceded in death by his first wife Deborah (Dean), and is survived by his wife Patricia (Gately), Stepdaughter Vicki (Mark), Stepson Bob, sons Michael (Dawna), David (Sina), Steven (Imelda), 11 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, his sister Dianne, niece, nephew and many, many friends.
Buck was a graduate from Flathead County High School in Kalispell, Montana. He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for Chevron Oil for over 30+ years. Buck was an avid cook, golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling the world and took cooking classes in Italy and France with his late wife, Debbie and also with Patty. He had a great love of golf, which is how he met Patty a little over 16 years ago. He was quite proud of his first hole in one in 2018. By far his most favorite pastime was fishing. He had two fishing trips a year with a group of men who have been fishing together for over 60 years. He has fished in Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Washington and Canada.
Buck was a most loving and caring person. He did not know the meaning of unkind. He loved everyone unconditionally. When asked why he liked being called Buck, he said; “His name Donald John Buckingham Jr. was a heavy load.”
Buck was proud of being a Eagle Scout. He was a Master Counselor in DeMolay. Master Orinda Lodge, California.
His Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 12:00pm. at Willowbrook United Methodist Church of Sun City.
