was called to his heavenly home on January 14, 2013.
He was born to William and Jessie Tomkins in Stockport, Iowa, May 11, 1920.
He worked as an aeronautical engineer in Indiana and in Arizona.
He helped design the starter engine for the F15, wrote the Installation Handbook for the
Airborne Gas Turbine Auxiliary Power Units and traveled to several countries to oversee airplane engine installations.
He loved to fly as a young man.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.
He and his wife of over 71 years, Margaret Ann, started a Lutheran Church
in a small Indiana town where there was none. Better known as “Tommy”, he loved to fish and
enjoyed his cabin in Pinewood for many years. “Tommy” is survived by his wife, Margaret, his three daughters
Pat (Merrill) Harlan, Carolyn (Jim) Brennan, and Margy Van Vugt,
six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held January 26, 15 11:00 am, at Life in Christ Lutheran Church, 14802 N. 75th Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85381. The family has requested donations to the Life in Christ Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
