

Helen Louise Mills was born on November 27, 1912, to Myrta and Noah Adams in Clinton, Indiana. After high school she married Harold Rubelt Mills, with whom she lived happily until his death in 1986. Their son, Kenneth Raymond Mills, was born in 1950.
Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Louise was a prominent business woman and cosmetologist, owning her own salons and dress shops in Clinton, Indiana; Paris, Illinois; and Rockford, Illinois (where the family moved in 1960). She was active in many organizations, and was President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Altrusa, and IFS Auxilliary.
After retiring to Sun City in 1978, Louise continued her active leadership in both professional and service organizations, and had been President of the Past Presidents’ Club of the BPW. She was an accomplished oil painter and had been President of the Lakeview Art Club.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John and Donald, and her beloved husband. She is survived by her sister Marjorie, her son Kenneth (Susan), three grandchildren: Joss, Travis, and Caitlin, three great-grandchildren, her nephew Lee (Joan), and her wonderful extended family, Ronald (Karen), Dennis (Sandi), Marc (Kristie), and their children and grandchildren.
Louise lived a full ninety-eight years and enriched the lives of all she met. She will be remembered always for her strength, artistic talent, sense of humor, and ability to make each day count.
