He was born in 1934. He grew up in Mamaraneck, Pennybridge, and Tarrytown New York. He was in the Air force from 1953-1957 where he worked on the radar equipment in aircraft. He was employed at Norden Systems in 1952 and again after the service in 1957. In 1957 he married his childhood sweetheart in Croton on Hudson and moved to Yonkers. They had 3 children in Yonkers. They moved to Milford CT in 1962 and had 2 more children. He graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a degree in Engineering. He retired in 1989. Herb and Gretchen then moved to Sun City, AZ 1991.
Herb was an avid tennis player, pool player, horseshoe player, bike rider, and sports fan. He kept his mind sharp with mind benders, and logic puzzles. He loved to work outside, hike, or just sit. He was also an artist who loved to paint and draw.
He was a traveler who brought his family all across the country and instilled a love for nature in all his children. He was a handyman who worked on his own cars and house. We can never remember a carpenter, electrician, or plumber in our house growing up. He always challenged us to figure things out on our own and valued self sufficiency. He was a great provider who did so much with his family. He took comfort in seeing all his kids and grandkids living happy and successful lives. We will always remember him at his 50th anniversary family trip to Las Vegas and then a few years later on a family trip to the Poconos. He was a quiet man with a great sense of humor that is evident in all his children.
He lost his battle with an aggressive form of lung cancer after 11 months of treatment. He found joy in every day and went out on his own terms.
