Jim,  will never be forgotten, for as i tried to say in the Chapel.  he established new standards at AMEX for training.  Initially, i was not 
impressed with Jim, but as time moved on, I found myself 180 out.
That translates to completely incorrect, taking the wrong direction
and then, to double check followed that with some follow through, a field inspection.
He was known for his sod-erring, perfect job; removed trouble-some and dangerous, "RAIN LOOPS"  YOU CARED FOR OTHERS MAKING YOU AN EXCEPTIONAL PERSON. WE MISS YOU...YOUR WIT AN YOUR INTER ACTION WITH EVERYONE.
I hope all our rides ARE  good ones !  R.I.P.

JIM:  We were returning from Jerome the other day and so many memories flashed by me of OUR trip on May 22, 2004 !! I still find difficult to understand your early passing....Hope you're riding daily and others are riding as well.  R.I.P. "JORG"

I started to write this along time ago,and never finished. I believe we are put on earth for a reason,and our days are numbered.Will we know if we did what we were sent here to do? Everything that happens to us good or bad happens for us as a lesson. I met Jim after he was hit on his bike. His brother Kevin a very close friend of mine asked me if I would take some bike parts  he painted for his bother in Az to him in my truck,when I had a load headed there. That is how I met Jim and family. Jim came to the truck stop to pick up the parts. We talked and in less than a half hour it was like we were old friends. Invited me to spend the day at his place met his wife and dog.After that day if I ended up in Phoinix I never had to hang out at the truck stop.Jim will br missed by many.I'm glad I met him not to many like him.Our heart is what makes people friends and our soul is whaat keeps us friends jim is proof of that I know your up there watching over us.Fred from Iowa

Jim, 

I need to talk to you for a minute. I'm not sure how to say what I want so I am just going to talk like you are right here beside me.
I want to Thank You for all the personal memories you gave me. They are so precious and sweet and could disappear in an instant if I did not allow them to live now in my heart.
I also want to thank  you for all the memories that you and I made with family and friends. We shared work and play, good times, bad times and laughter and tears with them all. Each of those people now carries a treasure chest of memories that I can enjoy for the asking.
I want to Thank You for our precious boy who has now grown into a wonderful man that we can both be proud of. He misses you very much and is trying very hard to be the son and the man you would want him to be. He knows I am lonely and is dealing with his grief and trying to help me with mine. So again, I Thank You for him.
This last part is very important. I want to Thank You for walking through this life with me. For so many years we walked side by side and shared a very special kind of love. You have left me now and I will have to walk the rest of the way alone but there is some comfort for me in knowing that I am walking toward you. Thank You for loving me and know that you are in my heart always.

Uncle Jim,
Every time I think about you, I think of the fun times we all had when we got to come visit you all in AZ. I was 13 and thought I would never be able to survive being away from my friends and boyfriend for that long to come there. Now that I look back, it was one of the best things my parents ever "made" me do. I have lots of great memories of that trip....spinning upside down in your hammock was probably one of the funniest. I remember going into your computer room and thinking it was crazy how many screens you had!! Now it's the norm! I remember when I was about 8 and Aunt Betty and I would write letters back and forth and she would tell me about how you all were doing there and she would send me books. You and Aunt Betty were my favorite Aunt and Uncle and cousin Dane was my favorite cousin growing up. Now I have a Dane of my own! One time my parents asked where I would want to live if something ever happened to them and of course I answered with Uncle Jim and Aunt Betty. It's hard for me to say goodbye so I thought I would just share some of my favorite memories with you. You are and always will be missed. I love you and hope to see you again. I wish you would have been able to meet our children, but believe me, I will always talk good about you to them!

 I really don't know what all to say. There are so many memories so many marathon vacations and thousands upon thousands of bike discussions. I can remember some crazy times when we were younger and maybe just a little wilder. Some of the stupid stunts that we did that don't seem as cool now that I am older lol. I always wished we lived closer so we could spend more time with all of us around, we all seemed to enjoy it so much, it was always so hard to go home after a visit. All the bikes we worked on for us and others and I cant remember when we got to ride together, usually one or the other was taking something apart and improving it that I think we missed out on that part of it a lot. I watched your son grow from diapers to a good man who takes care of his family and it makes me proud to have been a small part of that, I know you and Betty did a good job and should be very proud of him and his family.I wish our own family had done as well but at least our parents got 2 perfect sons lol.I know this is supposed to be a farewell to you but I just cant say that, how about Later? I can remember hearing that from you hundreds of times. I am so glad I got to talk to you a short time ago, it sure seemed like old times. I know these last few years have been hard on you but I believe we will meet up again and this time I hope we get to ride together more. I love you brother. Pick out a nice bike for me and have it ready to go ok? Later

Dane/Shannon and Mrs. Jorgensen, I've received soo many calls and e-mails regarding Jim over the past few weeks that it has inspired me to add another note to Jim's legacy page.  
I am SOOO pleased to see how many American Express employees, current or former, have taken the time to add their memories, stories and special moments about Jim. 
It is proof-positive of how many lives Jim truly touched.  
Jim was 'genuine'.  Period.  He was Jim, plain and simple.  He made no apologies for having his long hair and beard...nor should he have, despite how some viewed him in the corporate world.  Jim was timely, sincere, honest, organized, clean, detailed, and, even more importantly....helpful.  Jim was never rattled by any request.  Whether it be something new, or some crazy number of power cables expected to be built and installed in an evening.  He LOVED it!   
I loved his stories about painting water tanks.  What an absolutely fascinating job!  Scares me just thinking about it, and GOD knows I couldn't have done it, but Jim could.  Why?  Because Jim was genuinely one of those people who TRULY possessed the APTITUDE to learn and do new and ADVENTUROUS things.    
Was there a CLEANER motorcycle in town?   I doubt it.   
Could anyone print more legibly or clearly than Jim?  I doubt it.
Did everyone display the same understanding Jim did of those trying to learn in a tough environment?   Nope.
Did everyone go to bat for people the way Jim did and we  'should have', because we were 'supposed' to assume "positive intent"? 
Did some people display a true passion and JOY doing their jobs the way Jim did?  Nope.   
Even in death, Jim has found a way to RALLY us together.   Always taking care of others.  Always caring for and about others.  Jim really did know what it's truly all about!!

I know your focus was on your Dad as it should have been on Saturday and I hope all went as planned and expected. I had full intention of being there but, was not able to make it and I'm truly sorry for that. About the time the service was beginning I was laying under my daughter's car off Stoneman Lake road trying to figure out where the puddle of transmission fluid was leaking out. I heard from Chuck that there wasn't a dry eye in the house and what a nice service it was. It goes without saying, your Dad was one of a kind and he'll be sorely missed by many. Now that you've sent him off appropriately the healing can begin for you and your family knowing he'll never be forgotten by those he touched in his short time here. You and I both know he's able to rest now and check in on you and your family when you need him most. Be strong for your Mom, wife and kids, they'll need that from you, you are the head of the family now and that's not an easy job but, you're up to the task, I know you are.

Dane:
        
              Your Father is quite a man and I believe he'll be with you for many years.   He really Loved you more than you may know and he spoke
of you often at work.    Jim impressed many with his knowledge, abilities and goodwill.  He always impressed me with his detail and absolute, 
sheer determination to complete 'any' job ahead of time with the most dignity and Honor that is possible.   I only rode with him twice on our bikes, mostly because he hit it at 80-85 mph and that was bit much for me, but Jim liked it that way !   Our trip to Jerome is a fond memory from May 
of 2004 for we all had a good time and a safe ride.  

               I remember his friend, Gary, at work saying to me that he knew this guy who wanted to work at Amex but that he was concerned about his beard and long hair in the interview process.   I advised his friend, Gary, to tell him that Abe Lincoln had long hair and a beard....don't worry about it.  Jim arrived at Amex after Doug Gray hired him and we all were impressed for here was a guy who'd been around, seen a lot and accomplished even more.   His detailed work raised the standards on our team and they've been up since that time frame. 

                Jim, personally, trained Matt and Matt will tell you how  good his training was from his viewpoint, but I can tell you, from mine.  Matt has become one of the very best RFIT has experienced and while some of that goes as credit to Matt for the person he is, Jim holds the Lions' share of credit.   Jim also stood up for Matt if I ever questioned his progress......his attitude and drive.  Jim informed me that I needed to spend more time with Matt and see for myself.   Jim was correct.....!    If the timing was more correct, Jim would have been our Leader for he had all the skills and drive, besides the respect of everyone !   

                Jim, while missed these past few years, has changed Amex and some of it's approaches to business as usual.  Jim will be with you and others as he sees fit, for that is Jim's way.   I hope that he can ride everyday, work on his computers and comfort those of us who require it.  I have to tell you that it was an Honor to work with your father, to know him and feel I've been enriched by Jim.  Jim, may you ride in Peace - God Bless you, Always !

Jim, I have known you for most of my life and you were always a great brother-in-law,one couldn't ask for much better. Sure there were times when we may have had our differences,usually it was differences between you and Kevin, but you know how that is. I love him as Betty loves you. Even so we always came back around because we are family! You are missed terribly Jim, and its only been a couple of weeks.I will always remember the good times, Kevin and I took over your apartment on Jones street and inherited your cat Panther,visiting you in Des Moines and then on to Texas. Making 2 trips to the store for chocolate and spending well over $100 and we ate it all! I have to tell you I didn't eat chocolate for some time after that. The you moved to Phoenix and we came to visit and within 15 minutes of being there someone drove through your wall. You blamed us! Jim, I know we didn't talk a lot there at the end but I hope you know that I love you a lot, as does your brother. You were his favorite you know.

Betty, I can't say I know how you feel because I have not gone through what your are going through, all I can say is I am here for you if you ever need to talk, a shoulder to dry on, a bouncing board to scream at. I wish we could have been there for you but please know we were there and are there in spirit. I love you like a sister Betty and I really think we have graduated from write ins to true Jorgensen!

Be strong young man! I have watched you grow up from a little kid still in diapers to a fine young man and I am so proud of you. It is very hard to watch a parent pass. I was with my mom when she did and we also had to tell her it was time. It hurts so bad but I am so thankful that you were able to be there with him and that you guys made amends there at the end, my prayers were answered when we found that out. It does get easier as time goes by but you will always have that void and for that I am truly sorry. He was a good man and I know you loved him very much. The picture I re-posted is one of my favorites from the gallery. The love glows around that picture. We are here four you guys, if there is anything we are able to do just let us know!

Grandpa , you will have the best memorial day because we tried and are trying to do the best for you for your memorial! Everyone you know will try to come , but if some don't it's because they are busy or they have bad weather so they can't come , but always know you will be loved by your family and your friends because you are a great person and you do a lot for people. Dane, Shannon, Betty and family- I enjoyed working with Jim while he worked at American Express. I always appreciated his stories of motorcycles he built and rode. I  got a kick out of it when Jim would hunt me down to say he didn't see my bike in the parking lot and then he would want to know why I drove a car instead. I will miss Jim as I am sure he has made an impact upon my life.  I know Jim is in a better place and my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Iv'e been praying for you and your family. I know there will be sadness for a while, but believe that God will bring peace and healing to you. If you ever need anything don't hesitate to ask.

Grandpa Jim was a man who was never afraid of taking chances. He was a loving father and husband, a kind hearted friend, and an awesome grandfather. He will always remain deeply missed in our hearts.

Making sure both you and mom were getting the proper care and supplies.  Jim I have known you for 12 years.  I remember the first thing you said to me, it was a late night change I came in the office for and I saw this tall skinny gray man roaming the halls, then you muttered  “Never saw a dead man walking before?”.  I admit it was a little morbid but it caused me to find out who you were.  I remember going to your desk and seeing the tons of pictures you had of your motorcycles, son, and grandson (at the beginning). Then when Jamie was born I remember you boasting how she was the most beautiful of all babies.  I remember the story you told me about your beloved wife, her dying from an accident, then returning, and how it was your duty to protect her.  She was your life.  
I admired your attention to detail and your strong convictions.  The apple didn't fall far from the tree.  
I want to thank You; I have always wanted to have this conversation with you.  Thank you for introducing me to your Son.  I truly fell in love with him that day.  He and I have always had a strange connection that cannot be explained.  Dane is the greatest gift you have given to my world and for that I love you.  
I am sorry you life was cut short you were way to young; however, I am at peace knowing you are with God and no longer suffering or in pain.  Please stop by every now and again to give Mom kisses.  I know you will still protect her from where you are, as I will from here.  Until we see each other again I want you to know I LOVE YOU!!

Dane, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Father. My condolences to you and your family. Ivy, the kids and I will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. I remember when I met Jim before meeting you; Jim would share stories of your mom, kids, Shannon and you. I enjoyed listening to his stories and feeling his energy as he told them. Jim absolutely loved his family. May God rest his soul and ease your pain my friend.

A Beautiful Mind, I remember our stimulating conversattions, I have missed you. Mrs Jorgensen, Dane and Shannon there is no ease path through the sadness and uncertainty- but there is healing through the quiet passage of time. May you know the comfort of peace that comes from above.

Grandpa always cared for others. There was always something he would say nice about you. He also loved his motorcycles. I always thought it was funny when he would joke around with me and grandma before we would color in a coloring book. He would also joke around with anyone a lot of the time , but when I was little I would think he was serious , but when i got older i started to understand.

My condolences to you, Dane and the entire family.
In the brief time that I knew Jim I saw him as a man true to his word, a man that lived his own life, a good man indeed!

Hey Grandpa. I was just thinking about the times when you would come out of the hallway ready for work and I was eating lunch. You would joke around with me and say " Are you eating my lunch?". I always enjoyed that part of the day when you and Grandma were watching me. I love and miss you so much it cannot be expressed in words, but now I know have an angel to watch over me.

To Jim, a true friend and colleague for several years. Jim had a deep desire to build computers and fix them most of his free time. He always had a good answer to every question, no matter what it was. You are in a better place now...rest in peace my friend. P.S.  try to refrain from laminating everything you see, however I know you will anyways.

My heart goes out to you for your loss.
Jim was a good friend, riding buddy and computer geek friend.
I always enjoyed our rides together and our sometimes "charged" discussions.
I'll always appreciate his helping me work things out on my bike.
I'm sure he's twisting the throttle and hitting the twisties on the other side.

Dane, Shannon, Betty,and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We can celebrate Jim here and now for those moments that touched us. I remember how he could tell stories of some of his life experiences. And my remark would be "and your still alive? with a smile and chuckle". He enjoyed, as we all did, the comraderie we shared at work.
Jim was one the most detailed, perfectionist people I have ever met. And this showed in the work he did on our team at Amex.
As others have said, his love for his motorcycle was very evident. Even when a terrible accident occurred and he sustained injuries, when I spoke to him, he was more concerned about getting his "ride" back to gether,than he was of his own recovery. I am glad to have known him and know that he's ridin' the wind. Bless you Jim.

To My Beloved Husband; I fell in love with you when I was sixteen years old and married you when I was eighteen. Through all those years, no matter how we changed or our lives changed one thing remained constant. I loved you then, I love you now and I will love and miss you until we are together again. Until that day, I send you off with my blessing, my love and the part of my heart that broke when you crossed over.

Hey dad.  I just wanted to talk.  How are you doing?  I know you already know this but I love you and I miss you dearly. Mom, Shannon and your four absolutely beautiful grandchildren sure miss you too.  I know we had a rough patch for the last 5 years or so but I am so very happy that we could forgive each other for the things we said and did.  Your final hours here in this world were very difficult for me. It was hard watching you struggle but I am honored to have been by your side holding your hand until your final breath.  If I had known that our time was going to be cut so short, I would have been there more for you.  I would have held your hands more.  I would have hugged you more.  I would have told you “I love you” more.  I am sorry for telling you to stop fighting, that you didn't have to struggle anymore and that it was okay to go. It was okay right?  So tell me what it's like where you are.  I bet it is a beautiful place.  Remember I asked you to tell me about the universe?  So how is it?  What does it look like?  What does it smell like and feel like and sound like? I can only imagine how beautiful it must be.  I can't wait for you to visit me and tell me about it all. Have all of your life's questions been answered?  I hope the answers were what you hoped they would be.  Hey guess what?  I got the Roadstar running again for you.  I hope you don't mind that I took it for a short ride around the neighborhood.  It rode nice…well except for the flat spotted tires. And you know, it doesn't corner as well as my Hayabusa…lol… but all in all it was a good experience.  I had a little difficult time knowing that I wasn't returning it to you.  I hope you can forgive me for taking the front cylinder off of the Sportster.  I have a good reason for it and I hope you will approve.  I promise you that I will return it to its former glory and take it for a ride in your honor.  Well there are a lot of people here offering their prayers for you.  I just want you to know that we will be okay.  So don't worry about us but I sure hope you check in on us from time to time….I love you and miss you….I know we will be together again someday and I look forward to it…you will always be my hero…

 I will always cherish the time I spent with Jim riding and working on our bikes. Jim was always there when I needed help or a friend to talk to. I know the past 6 and a half years were really hard on him and I know that he is in a better place now.

Dane, Shannon, Mrs. Jorgensen and family.  I had the pleasure of hiring Jim at American Express.  As the other comments attest to, Jim was very much the perfectionist.  He was a confident, highly intelligent and widely skilled man.  I can still picture his impressive printing.  No one could ever say they couldn't read it! I am almost positive Jim is in heaven giving the lord a few lessons on some details he should have thought about while creating this beautiful earth.  Jim had a tremendous impact on me in the time that I knew him.  He taught me a lot about attention to detail and how to do things in the most efficient ways possible.  He was the one who also taught me how to ride a motorcycle. I still carry his lessons and methods in work and life today.  He will truly be missed.  Betty, Dane and family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you for your loss.  He was a great man and an even better friend.

Betty, Dane & family; Mike & I want to express our saddness for your loss. Jim was definitely "one of a kind" and will leave in the exact way he would have wanted.

   Well, I guess Jim can now ride across the sky with no speed limit.  The most detailed person at work that I've ever met and was amazed with his caring for others.  Jim always had so much going on in his head...science, math, physics...you name it, he knew it !  He trained others with such precision that no one could question their qualifications, nor did they !  He will be missed but never forgotten !   Have a good ride, Jim !!
