JoAnn Alford Lowe was born July 28, 1948 in Lake Jackson, Mississippi. She departed her earthly life on October 13, 2022 in her Glendale, AZ home. Her parents were the late Everline and Sylvester Alford. She was the youngest of 5 children. JoAnn attended O’Bannon High School in Greenville, MS. Upon graduating she started her family and proceeded to further her education at Shorter College in Little Rock, AR where she graduated with a degree in Education. She worked in the education field for many years in Missouri and Michigan as a teacher. After relocating to San Diego, CA she decided to pursue other areas of giving back to the community by working with the Salvation Army Organization, which is where she retired. She supported various foundations and made contributions to Shriner's Hospital, St. Jude's Children’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s and St. Paul’s Homeless camps, and was an active supporter for City of Hope and Tempe Beach Park Walk for Cancer. JoAnn was a very spiritual and loving woman. She loved her family, her pet dogs and traveling as much as possible to different places to experience more of life. She loved physical fitness, was very creative, enjoyed arts and crafts, had an art for making beautiful unique jewelry and loved the agriculture of house plants. Her poise, beauty, grace, and humor was a blessing to all that knew her and whose path she would cross. She was Queen of the Lowe Family Tribe, widow of the late Dr. Nathaniel Lowe. Left to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are her 4 daughters Sharon Lowe-Gunn (late Anthony Gunn III), Sharnell Lowe, Shavon Lowe, Sharine Lowe-Moore (husband Sherman Moore), 4 grandchildren (Tashion Barney, Raven Bullard, Rajha Bullard and Lorenzo A. Gunn IV), and 4 great grandchildren (Ryzon Dove, Anthony Uzoma, Aulelia Adaeza, and Afah Abumeza), her oldest sister Dorothy Wilson and her 8 nieces and nephews (LS, Doris, Maryanne, Marilyn, Vickie Lynn, Delores, Samuel, and Christopher). She will be greatly missed.
