Judie will always be remembered for her big heart, adventurous spirit, quick wit and accomplished cooking and baking skills. When Judie wasn’t busy entertaining for her family and friends, she could be found at her weekly card games, watching nature shows on Discovery or sports. She was a life-long Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan who never missed one of their games. One of the things her family will miss most about her are the elaborate Italian Christmas Eve feasts which took weeks to prepare and included Nana’s special Jell-O molds and amazing baklava.
Judie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas Mitchell, Jr., their blended family of five children, Damian Ganos, Adrian DiSylvester (Paul), Thomas Mitchell (Anne), Jane Dobbs (David), Moira Turner (Mark), Bridget Ford. Judie was Nana to 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Jane Parisi and niece, Laurie Jean Parisi. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol Mae Kunisada, and nephew Rickie Parisi.
Judie’s life will be celebrated during a memorial service on March 18 at 1:00 PM at Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City.
