Julius "Harry" Spohn, 80, a much loved husband and father, brother and uncle, departed to be with his Lord and Savior on November 23, 2015. He was born in Chicago, IL on January 31, 1935 and the last 18 years resided in Sun City, AZ with Doris, his wife of 57 years.
He lived a full and active life, and will be greatly missed by family and many friends. In addition to his wife, Doris Spohn, Harry is survived by his son Steven Spohn and daughter Diane Lenz; sisters Annette Caporusso and Carol Filskov; and niece Linda Bridgeman. He was preceded in death by his parents Olga and J. Harry Spohn Sr. and a brother Robert Spohn.
He'll be well remembered by his great sense of humor and radiant smile. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War returning home in November of 1955. He was an active member of the Korean War Veterans Association in Sun City the past five years attending their meetings faithfully. He enjoyed riding his Gold Wing Motorcycle for many years and made many friends among the bikers.
He was also devoted to his ministry of music singing in the church choir, mens quartets and a number of Barbershop choruses over the years. He loved southern gospel music and is now joining many of his favorite southern gospel singers singing and rejoicing around the Lord's throne. It should also be noted that he was a very generous and kind hearted man, always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. We are comforted in knowing that we will meet him again in heaven around the Lord's throne in glory.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Tuesday, December 1.
