Kathryn Bowman, age 97, began her new life with Jesus on March 18, 2026. She most recently lived at Orchard Pointe of Surprise, Arizona. She was born on December 31, 1928, in Port Arthur, Texas, the daughter of John Bryan and Sadie Perkins. She joined an older sister, Mary, and an older brother, Johnny.
On September 23, 1949, Kathryn married the love of her life, Frank Bowman, in Houston, Texas. They would have the blessing of welcoming into their family three daughters, a son, and eventually six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Frank and Kathryn moved back and forth between Texas and Oklahoma until they settled in
Arizona in 1960. They loved travelling throughout the U.S and Europe and went on several cruises. They enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage until Frank’s death on August 28,2015.
Kathryn held several jobs during her working career and retired from the HR department at Motorola, where she implemented EEOC.
She was active in the various churches she attended through the years, including serving on many committees at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Sun City.
Kathryn was very active in her life, participating in such sports as golf and bowling and was an avid game player. When playing games with her children and grandchildren, she would often say, “I respect you too much to let you win!” In her later years she led Bible studies in her condo at El Dorado, where she was surrounded by many close friends.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Bruce) Caldwell of Woodland Park, Colorado; Jerry (Jean) Bowman of Goodyear, Arizona; Susan (Joe) Kirchoff of King City, Oregon; and Kate (Kevin) Johnson, of Vancouver, Washington, along with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Kathryn had a close relationship with the Lord, having put her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior. Because of this, we have the assurance she is in His presence right now, enjoying her new life and the peace and love of God. While we miss her here, we know that even though she is “absent from the body,” she is “at home with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8).
Kathryn left a legacy of love for her family and friends. She truly left her fingerprints on the hearts of all who knew her.
Her celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 11:00 a.m., at the Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10928 W. Thunderbird Blvd., Sun City, Arizona, with a reception to follow.
