Lucia Giovannucci, 87, of Phoenix, Arizona, entered into rest February 4, 2016 in Chandler, Arizona. She was born October 15, 1928 in Pratola Peligna, L’Aquila, Italy to Anna Santilli and Salvatore Vallera. She was married to Giuseppe (Joseph) Giovannucci Sr. for 63 years. Lucia was a manufacturing assembler for Royal Typewriter, Carling Switch and a business partner. She was a member of St. Helena’s Church in Hartford, CT, St. Clement, Surprise, AZ, Corpus Christi in Phoenix, AZ. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, arts and crafts, cooking, baking, gardening and the beach.

Lucia is survived by her husband Giuseppe (Joseph) Giovannucci Sr. Phoenix, AZ; children, Edward and Anita Giovannucci, Phoenix, AZ, Joseph Giovannucci Jr., Bristol, CT, Vittoria Giovannucci, Peoria, AZ, Robert Giovannucci, Manchester, CT; Grandsons, Nicholas, Arizona, Matthew, Arizona, Antonio, CT; Granddaughter Alassandra Giovannucci, CT; brother Gino Vallera, CA; nephews, Carl-John Aleva, CT, Salvatore Vallera, CA, Vincent-Lucio Lefonte, CT, Anthony Vallera, CT; nieces, Anna Hackett, MA, Anna (maiden Vallera) CA, Tina (maiden Vallera, CA, Maria (maiden Giovannucci), CT, Sylvia (maiden Giovannucci), CT, Francesca Knerr, CT, Christina Toti, CT, Teresa Vallera, CT.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Road, Phoenix, AZ followed by a mass at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in Lucia’s name to the American Heart Association.
