Marjorie D Schneider

Marjorie Schneider died Thursday 10/11/12 from complications following surgery at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona. Marjorie was born on the family farm in Richardson County, Nebraska on August 22, 1922 to Louis and Ola Wittwer.

She worked at the County Treasurer’s Office in Hampton, Iowa for 24 years beginning in 1954. She was elected to 3 terms as Franklin County Treasurer from 1966 to 1978. During that time she served as President of the Iowa State Treasurers’ Association, was a board member of the Iowa State Association of Counties, served on the board of The Red Cross for North Central Iowa, served on the Motor Vehicle Advisory Council for the Iowa DOT, President of the Business and Professional Women’s Organization and Chaired the Franklin County Republican Party.

In 1979 Marjorie moved to Des Moines to work for the Iowa Comptroller’s Office as Supervisor of County Budgets where she retired in 1984.

She became an active supporter of Wycliffe Missionaries and served as a missionary in Catalina, AZ. Indonesia and the Philippines.

Marjorie has always been active in her church and volunteered for many caring services for shut-ins and the elderly. She has been a faithful supporter of missionaries for over 27 years, heading fund-raising events and contributing to multiple missionaries every month. Because it was important to her to support the efforts of these devoted people, she established a fund to continue supporting them.

She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her sister, Martha Snethen of Falls City, NE, her children, Pamela (Gerald) Bair, P. Stephen (Karen) Schneider, and William (Jane) Schneider. Her 6 grandchildren: Stephanie (Brian), Troy (Jacquie), Lucas (Teresa), Amy (Cortez), Paul (Destiny), Erika (Mat), Jake (Ashlyn), Julianne (Joel) and 11 great-grandchildren: Lauren, Kristen, Calvin, Nathaniel, Jackson, Owen, Braylon, Devon, Abbygale, Scottland and Logan. She will be greeted in heaven by her cherished husband Paul Stephen Schneider.

A memorial service will be held at West Valley Christian Fellowship, 12649 N 105th Ave, Sun City, Arizona at 2:00PM, October 17, 2012.
