Mary Lou (Conrey) Phillips, 87, died on June 4 in Surprise, Arizona. She was born in southern Illinois to Charles and Lelia (Kern) Conrey. She was the eldest of six children. She and her husband, Elmer, lived in southern Illinois until 1961 when he was transferred to Durango, Colorado. They lived there several years and were active in the square dance club and loved traveling. They moved to Casper, Wyoming and then to Sun City, Arizona in 1977 upon Elmer’s retirement. Mary Lou was an active member of the Sun City Christian Church and the Sun City Travel Trailer Club. Her love of travel included trips to Japan and Scandinavia with Seniors Abroad. She traveled extensively in the United States, as well as New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, Jordan and Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; son, Thomas Alan Phillips; and brother Wayne Conrey. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Charlene Dimacali; granddaughter, Melody Sutton; great grandchildren, Sarah and Thomas Sutton; sisters, Wilma Jean Moore, Teenie Wilson, Hildred Niemeier; brother, Norman Conrey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her ashes will be buried in Grayville, Illinois. No Sun City services are planned.
