Pat Armstrong

Pauline Patricia “Pat” Pence Armstrong, 94, passed away at her residence in Peoria, Arizona on Monday, November 3, 2014. Pat was born to Hazel and Robert Pence on August 22, 1920. She graduated from Decatur High School with high honors in 1938. She received her nursing degree from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri in 1941. She married Doctor Wilbur A. Armstrong in Decatur, Illinois on May 16, 1942. The couple had four children. Following her husband's discharge from World War II in 1946, they moved to Rockford, Illinois. In 1950, they moved to Rochester, Minnesota. The family moved to Billings, Montana in 1953. While in Billings, Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She served as past president to both the Women's Auxiliary of the Yellowstone Valley Medical Society and the Women's Auxiliary of the Montana Medical Association. She was the president of the Billings' Symphony Society Women's Committee. She was a past matron of Edna Hedges Chapter #15. The couple moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1980 and lived there for fourteen years until they moved to Freedom Plaza in Peoria, Arizona. While in Arizona, Pat worked for a time as a realtor. She was a Deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Palmbrook Country Club. She was a member and past president of PEO. She enjoyed playing bridge of which she was a Life Master in the ACBL. She is survived by her children: Doctor Barbara Armstrong of Camas, Washington; Susan (Gerald) Woodahl of Missoula, Montana and Anthem, Arizona; Norm Armstrong of Sun City, Arizona; and Gwendolyn (Scott) Lamb of Billings, Montana. She is survived by six grandchildren: Robert, Susan, Erica, Kim, Patricia, and Jennifer. She is survived by six great grandchildren: Neal, Anthony, Eyon, Lindzy, Levi, and Skyler; and two great, great grandchildren: Noah and Charles. A memorial celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 7 at Freedom Plaza in Peoria, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Faith Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
