Perry served in the Illinois Army National Guard until discharged September 30, 1962. He continued to live and work in the Urbana area until 1990.
On November 11, 1989, Perry Hatter and Norma Ferguson of Fisher, Illinois married. Perry and his new family relocated to Glendale, Arizona. This is where he worked and help raise stepchildren. There wasn't a stranger Perry couldn't talk to. He could always let you know where to get a good cup of coffee and pie.
Perry and Norma enjoyed a hot dog vending business in their community as well as little league groups. He enjoyed years of bowling where he earned a few 300 rings and one 800 ring. He also played pool where he also won a few awards.
Perry is survived by his wife, Norma; his five children, Gary Hatter, Beverly Wallace, Becky Wunnenberg, Billy Hatter and Donna Cook; his eight step children, Cindy Ferguson, William Ferguson, Fern Coldsmith, Paul Ferguson, Sam Ferguson, Loneita Vantlin, Loreita Ferguson and Gerald Ferguson. He has twenty-three grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, and two step nephews. Perry is preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Hatter and a grandson, Biily Hatter Jr.
