Philip (Phil) Edwin Moore passed away on March 16, 2017. Born in Greenwood, RI, on June 16, 1929, and raised in Narragansett, RI, Phil was most recently a resident of Surprise, AZ, and a longtime resident of Sun City West and Phoenix, AZ. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Carolyn (Rohrman), parents Philip E and Catherine Elizabeth Moore, sisters Mary Helen (Combs), Phyllis Evelyn Moore, and Frances Genevieve Moore. He is survived by his brother Harold Silas Moore (Jane), of Bloomfield, CT, and son Philip E. Moore, Jr (Christine), daughters Allison Moore of Surprise, AZ, Leslie Yeend (Stanley) of Aloha, OR, and Laura Piper (Mark) of Arlington, TX, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Phil earned a BS degree in Accounting at the University of Rhode Island. He began his career as an accountant, but transitioned to sales, first with IBM, then with Honeywell, marketing to state and local governments. He also acquired Data Institute in West Hartford, CT, and co-founded Applied Computer Sciences, a computer consulting firm. After retirement, Phil enjoyed a successful career in real estate sales with Ken Meade Realty, in Sun City West.
Phil was very athletic in his youth, and loved the ocean, swimming and sailing. He was a deep thinker who was always concerned about his family, and was famous for his Words of Wisdom, a treasure trove of tried and true sayings he’d impart to help one face life’s problems. He was a true gentleman with a big heart, a dry wit and a big hearty laugh, who never met a stranger.
A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley, in Peoria, AZ.
