

Roma L. Strebe, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, July 15th, 2014. Roma was born on June 16th, 1919, and grew up in the Buffalo, NY area. She attended Buffalo State Teachers College where she met the love of her life, Dr. David Strebe. They had a great marriage for 59 years until Dave’s death in 2002. Roma and Dave spent 5 years in Washington, DC, during WW II and then moved to Columbia, S.C. where Roma taught 2nd grade for 30 years at Watkins Elementary and Bradley Elementary. She received her Master’s degree from the University of South Carolina in 1956. She loved teaching, and was highly regarded by students and colleagues alike. Roma and Dave were charter members of Columbia Evangelical Church and served there for many years. In 1985 they retired and moved to Sun City West, AZ. Roma was involved with the local Christian Women’s club there and served in various capacities as an active member of Faith Bible Church. She loved to have friends over and was one of the most gracious and kind women you could ever meet. She lived at LifeStream Senior Living (formerly Baptist Village) for the last 14 years. She loved the community of caregivers and friends she had there. Roma loved her family above all and was an amazing mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She left a lasting legacy of love and faith for all of us. Roma is survived by son John (Priscilla) Strebe; daughter Sherry( Rick) Saylor; grandchildren Amy (Ed) Gerak; Scott ( Katie) Saylor; Jon(Donna)Strebe; Sara(Paul) Behrens; and great-grandchildren Moses and Lancey Gerak ,Carson Saylor, Luke, Emma Kate, and Ryan Strebe.
A memorial service with be held Saturday, August 9th at 1PM at LifeStream( in the chapel at Cook Health Care), 11555 W. Peoria Ave., Youngtown, Az. 85363. Memorials can be made to Inheritance of Hope, PO box 90, Pisgah,NC. 28768
