Roy Allen Rogers was born on May 1, 1952 in Detroit Michigan to the union of Warren A. Rogers Sr. and Dorothy Rogers. He was the fourth of five children, Florence, Marie-Ann, Warren Jr., and Sheila. Both Warren Sr. and Florence preceded him in death and are still deeply missed. Roy received his education in Detroit Public Schools. In 1970 Roy moved from Detroit Michigan to Phoenix Arizona and has been here ever since. Roy truly was the jack of all trades and eventually became a business owner due to his work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and his gift of gab. Those who knew Roy could agree that his main focus was his family and he worked day in and day out to make sure he provided for his family. Roy loved to laugh and crack lots of jokes, play sports such as basketball and racquet ball, he enjoyed playing backgammon and dominoes, he played the saxophone, and he even traveled and sang first tenor in the Rogers Male Trio.
Roy was the proud father of seven children, Tanika, Yalonda, Roy, Dylan, Allana, Rakeesh, and Laraena. Roy also was the grandfather of 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Roy Rogers was called home on March 17, 2016. In celebrating his home going he leaves behind his lovely wife of 22 years Sarina, his children, his 3 remaining siblings, his grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
