

care of Hospice of the Valley. She died of natural causes after 93 years of
life. Ruby is survived by sons C.K. Smith, James R Smith, Ted J Smith, and
daughter, Debra A Smith-Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by husband James
in April, 1997 and son Samuel J in September, 1997. Ruby was a loving Grandmother to 11 and had 7 great grandchildren.
Ruby was born November 19, 1919, on the family farm near Promise City, Wayne
County, Iowa. Ruby was the eighth child of ten born to Thomas Edward George
and Marie Etta (Comstock) George. Her loan surviving sibling is Helen George
Stoffer of Kirksville, MO.
Ruby attended North Salem Country School, Wayne County, Iowa, and graduated
from Corydon High School. Ruby's early career was in the beauty industry.
She had her own salon in Leon, Iowa, when she met her husband, James. Ruby
and James were married in Bethany, Missouri, on December 12, 1941 and shared
56 years together, Soon after her marriage, she gave up the salon to became
a devoted housewife and mother. Ruby successfully raised and nurtured her five
children and two nieces, Kate Lindroth Dunbar and Victoria Lindroth Evans,
to adulthood.
Ruby was much loved and will be missed by all who crossed her path in her
life's journey.
