

Shirley Mae (Mukomela) Lazarz, 95, a Sun City resident, passed away March 3, 2024. She was born on December 20, 1928, in Langdon, North Dakota, to the late Anton and Ella (Storie). She attended Jamestown College in Jamestown, ND and the Abbott Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN in which she received her RN degree (1950) and worked at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She resided in Minneapolis, MN for over 40 years until moving to Sun City AZ.
Shirley was known for her kind and generous spirit, her love for her family, and her profound faith. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity.
She is survived by her children Debra Hartman of Chandler, AZ, and Michael (Cyndy) Lazarz of Sammamish, WA. Shirley will be missed by her grandchildren: Alina (Craig) Sprowls of Chantilly, VA, Corrine Lazarz of New York, NY, Shaina Lazarz of San Diego, CA, Evan (Tara) Lazarz of Seattle, WA, Andrew Lazarz of Denver, CO, Kerry Lazarz of Gilbert, AZ, as well as her great-granddaughters Joelle and Ainsley, Chantilly, VA, great-grandson Dean, Seattle, WA and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Lois (Eldon) Nolte of Des Moines, IA, and her brother Robert (Kay) Mukomela of Algonquin, IL.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Steve, son, Lawrence, brothers William, Arthur and Kenneth, and sisters Marjorie and Cheryl.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at St. Clement of Rome in Sun City, AZ. Interment following mass at Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to Saint Clement of Rome at 15800 Del Webb Boulevard, Sun City, AZ 85351, or to Hospice of the Valley at 1510 E Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
Shirley's legacy of kindness and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
