Most of Sid’s childhood was spent with his family in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His medical education brought him to Chicago with his wife Judy (née Gurevich). It was there they raised their children and formed a large community of friends. Sid was a highly respected doctor and a pioneer in the field of vascular surgery. Throughout his career, he taught medical students, was published in numerous journals, and saved countless lives. When he was not in the operating room, you could find Sid on the golf course or watching his beloved Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks.
Sid’s love and pride for his family was always evident and fierce. He is predeceased by his parents Phillip and Rose (née Silbert) Haid, and his brother Marshall. Sid is survived by his wife of 62 years Judy, his children Jonathon Haid, Matthew Haid and his wife Lisa, Sari Kesler and her husband Ray, and Elyssa Miller and her husband Chris. He also leaves his brother Harry Haid and his wife Elspeth, and all of his beloved grandchildren Max, Lexi, Jess, Sam, Monty, Clay, Coltrane, Savannah, Jack, and Lilah.
The family is exceptionally grateful for the excellent, compassionate end of life care provided by Hospice of the Valley and the Amira Care Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Valley https://hov.org/donate/donate-now
