Thomas (Tom) was born June 19, 1935 in Wausau, Wisconsin and passed May 18, 2025 in Sun City, Arizona.
Gail was born August 28, 1935 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and passed June 16, 2025 in Sun City, Arizona.
They shared their entire adult lives with each other, and passed in their home as they had lived.
Since high school, they shared a life together for over 70 years. Upon graduation, they married, and Tom joined the USAR at about age 19. He had his basic training at Fort Lewis Kentucky, and spent service in the tank corps in Fairbanks, Alaska. Gail joined him throughout and was always at his side. Pregnant with their first child Diana Lynn, their early married life was hectic and difficult. Their daughter died shortly after childbirth, at which time they returned to Wisconsin and family for consolation and support.
Tom had a long and successful journeymen pressman career starting with American Can Co. and working there for well over 40 years through its different ownerships and finally retiring from James River Corp., which is now Georgia Pacific. Gail assumed the role of wife and homemaker and enjoyed retail positions until finding her career at Wausau Insurance Co. as a group underwriter.
Upon retirement, Tom and Gail moved from Wausau, Wisconsin to Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed sunny warm weather for over 30 years. Travel, golf, dining and casinos, friends and family, and festive pool parties filled their retirement years. Tom loved airplanes, being a veteran, travel and adventure, Gail loved her home and family… yet somehow they made it work!
Advanced age and health issues challenged Tom and Gail towards the end of their lives, but they always had a kind word, a cold beer, a laugh and time for their family and friends.
Tom and Gail were preceded in death by their infant daughter, both of their parents and grandparents, and are survived by Tom‘s younger brothers, Terry Christian of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Daryl Christian of Wausau, Wisconsin, their children Cynthia L Christian of Onalaska, Wisconsin and Craig S Christian of Honolulu, Hawaii, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and extended family.
Tom and Gail’s earthly remains were cremated and will be interred in the family plot at Restlawn Cemetery in Wausau, Wisconsin.
A small portion of their remains were scattered per their wishes… for Tom, lakeside in Northern Wisconsin, for Gail, in the ocean waters of the Hawaiian Islands.
A brief reception and celebration of their lives will be held from 3-5pm on Friday November 7, 2025 at Sunland Mortuary, North Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona.
On behalf of Cynthia and Craig, and our extended families, please know our parents were loved, kind and generous, honest and proud, and will be dearly missed every day.
