

Bill was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his children, Sandra F. Selvaggi (Sarmir) and William L. Sarmir, and his granddaughter, Kimberly N. Selvaggi. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Lanza F. Sarmir (Pacini).
Bill attended Allentown High School, graduating in 1951, with a specialty in cabinet making. He joined the Air Force shortly after high school where he had a successful career for more than 22 years retiring with a rank of Master Sergeant. He worked in multiple roles and positions related to logistics support at the various locations in which he was stationed including deployments in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He met his wife, Lanza F. Pacini, who was also in the Air Force, at ENT Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. After marrying in 1956, they spent the next 20 years at numerous duty stations to which Bill was assigned including Dover Foxcroft, ME, Kincheloe, MI, Vandenberg AFB, CA, the Air Force Academy in CO, along with 2 tours to air bases in Turkey, concluding his Air Force career in Sacramento, CA. After Bill retired from the Air Force, he joined Lockheed and headed to the Middle East as Lockheed was assisting the Iranian Air Force with logistical support. Upon his return from Iran, Bill spent more than 10 years at Lockheed Missiles & Space in Sunnyvale, CA supporting the Trident Ballistic Missile Program. In retirement, he relocated to Oro Valley in Tucson, AZ for 20 years and then later to the Phoenix area (Surprise/Sun City) for the last 10 years.
Bill was quite the sports fanatic, including participating in and watching baseball, basketball, golf, and bowling. In retirement, he was the captain of the water volleyball team, and he played bocce with Lanza, participating in the Oro Valley Senior Olympics, achieving several team medals. He enjoyed living in the Tucson and Phoenix, AZ areas for over 30 years.
Out of 9 brothers and sisters, Bill is survived by one sister, Patricia Sedler, of Allentown, PA. He is remembered by his family, many nieces/nephews and friends.
A service for Bill and the immediate family will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City, AZ.
