Allan Lee Howe

Allan Lee Howe (Al) was born May 29, 1951, in Crete, Nebraska, the oldest of 6 children of Robert W. and Lois M. (Vergith) Howe. The family moved to Moorhead, Minnesota where Al was raised and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1969. Al joined the US Navy in 1971 where he served as an Aircraft Structural Mechanic (AMS) maintaining F4 Phantoms at NAS Miramar in San Diego. Al returned to Moorhead where he attended NDSU School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse and a post graduate degree as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. During this time his children Carrie & Michael were born. AL worked in the medical field for over 30 years starting his career in open heart surgery at the Fargo Clinic, followed by St John Medical Center, Longview, Washington, and numerous hospitals in Oregon and Washington.

He was united in marriage to Susan Zimmerman on November 7, 2017. In retirement, Al & Susan traveled extensively and resided in Phoenix, Arizona area. Allan passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, following a long struggle with cardiopulmonary disease.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice Wagner, and Nancy Howe. He is Survived by his wife Susan, Surprise, Arizona; daughter Carrie (Jason) Johanning, Longview, Washington, son Michael Howe, Prineville, Oregon; sister Barbara (Paul) Suppa, Fargo, North Dakota; brothers Norman Howe, Minneapolis Minnesota and Kenneth (Dawn) Howe, Fergus Falls Minnesota; 3 step children Angi Sterling (Mike Harris) Olympia, Washington, John Zimmerman (Sunil Thapa) Scottsdale, Arizona, and Leah (Travis) Ray Klamath Falls Oregon. 3 grandchildren and 5 Step grandchildren.

A visitation for Allan will be held Monday, January 22, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 West Bell Road, Surprise, Arizona 85374. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 9:30 AM, 16063 West Bell Road, Surprise, Arizona 85374. The committal service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
