It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Cavalier, age 86, of Phoenix, Arizona. Barbara was born at home on May 8, 1939, in Norman County, Minnesota. She went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2026, after a brief illness.
Barbara is preceded in death by her adoring husband of over 67 years, James Cavalier, her brother, Philip Stephenson, grandson, Corey Brumley, and her parents, Morris and Marlys Stephenson.
Barbara is survived by her two sisters, Hazel Thompson and Linda Lunde, and four loving children, Cynthia Buttrey, Dennis Cavalier, Kimberley Carpenter, and Ronald Cavalier. She is also survived by four cherished grandchildren, Lindsay Callaway, Heather Serge, Marissa Doherty, and Bryan Brumley, as well as nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren with a third on the way. She is a beautiful soul who was dearly loved and will always be remembered by those she has left behind.
Barbara demonstrated an enthusiasm for life. She derived happiness in helping others through her charitable service with the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary. Among many things, Barbara had a passion for gardening, was an avid reader, enjoyed socializing and playing games with friends and family, spent countless hours watching cooking shows and testing out new recipes, and took pleasure in the finer things in life, including wine, chocolate, and other sweet delights.
Barbara touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all family and those who mourn her departure.
A celebration to honor the life of Barbara will be held in Washington State in the near future. The date and location of which is to be announced. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Barbara's legacy through a memorial contribution made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
