

Carole was born on December 7, 1943, in Edgeley, North Dakota, to the late Louis Frances Bergeman and Mary Eleanor Schmitz Bergeman. She enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Irvine Company, joining in 1998. In 2003, she was promoted to serve as Donald Bren’s senior executive assistant, a role she held with distinction until her retirement in 2014.
Carole was a woman of strong morals, deep faith, and endless love for her family and friends. She cherished life’s moments, whether it was gathering with loved ones, dancing the night away, or sharing in friendly games of cards. Her warmth and generosity left an enduring impact on everyone she knew.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James Cameron Zaffino; her loving children: Sheryl (Dale) Oosting, Dona (Mark) Davis, Gary Wilks, James (Laura) Wilks, and stepdaughter Erica Petruske. She is also survived by her siblings: Jerry (Norma) Bergeman, Peggy McDaniel, Patricia (Larry) Van Gorder, Barbara Cingoranelli, Mary Ann (Mark) Mauler, Matt (Karen) Bergeman, Mike (Cheryl) Bergeman, and Judy Bergeman (Mackowick), along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Carole was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bergeman; her grandson, Jeremie Oosting; her brothers-in-law, Kevin Mackowick, Edward Cingoranelli, and Russell McDaniel; and her sister-in-law, Debra Bergeman.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
