

He was born in Oakland, California on July 23, 1943 and resided in Lafayette, California. He graduated from Acalanes High School in 1961. He joined the Air Force in 1965 and met his beautiful wife on April 12, 1968. They were happily married on September 5, 1969. He had a long career with Pacific Bell.
After retirement, he worked with the Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corp and Sierra Pacific. He was a volunteer with the Citizen Patrol of Surprise, AZ and was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Alameda.
He enjoyed cruising and traveling the world with his wife of 53 years by his side. When his children were younger, he enjoyed taking his family on many road trips to the National Parks and obscure landmarks throughout the western United States with video cameras in tow (he always had the newest gadgets).
He always looked forward to attending his grandkids school plays, graduations, parties and events.
He is loved and cherished by many people including his wife, Becky Manning; his children Michelle Stevenson and her spouse Ken, Michael Manning, and Jennifer Woods-Meola and her spouse Bill; his grandchildren: Kayla Ruble, Kiley Ruble, Michael Manning, Charlie Manning, Collin Barnes, Sierra Woods, Chase Woods and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and Charles Manning and his sisters Kathleen Orr and Betty Manning.
His celebration of life will be on Saturday April 15, 2023 at 3;00 pm at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W. Bell Rd. Surprise, AZ 85374.
