
Dorothy Jean Peca (nee Hedgepeth), a cherished resident of Surprise, Arizona, passed away on August 4th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born an autumn day on October 8th, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Mary and Clyde Hedgepeth. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank A. Peca, brothers, Clyde, John, James, and Wayne.
Dorothy was a kind-hearted, wise, and thoughtful individual who touched the lives of many. Family was of utmost importance to her, and she was deeply committed to instilling values of compassion, resilience, accountability, and honesty in her children. Her wisdom and kindness were evident in every word she spoke, and she was a cherished presence in the lives of her family.
Her love for animals and children was well-known, and she had a natural ability to provide comfort and support to those around her. Dorothy's soothing kindness and her way of making others feel seen will be fondly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Dorothy Jean Peca's legacy of gracefulness, wisdom, and sincere character will continue to inspire and be cherished by her children; her daughter Dorothea Dougherty (Don), her son Francis Peca (Camea), and her six grandchildren: Patrick, Christopher, Kayla, Siena, Kaito and Kimiko. Sisters: Kass and June, and brother, Robert.
To honor Dorothy's memory, a viewing will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at St Anselm Church, 12670 Dunks Ferry Road. Philadelphia, PA 19154 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in eternity with her beloved husband Frank A. Peca in Resurrection Cemetery, following services.
