Edris Eleanore Steele Godwin

Edris Eleanore (Steele) Godwin, 75, was born October 5, 1936 in Santa Monica, CA. She passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 while traveling in Provo, UT. Edris moved to Phoenix from California in 1951 and attended West High School in Phoenix, and is a graduate of Brigham Young University. Edris taught school for 2 years in Salt Lake City, UT, and was a first-grade teacher at Cartwright Elementary School in Phoenix for 27 years. She was a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and treasurer for the Westside Phoenix Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, who passed away August 30, 2011, and her parents Beryl Vincent and Ida Mary Steel. Edris is survived by her two sons, Bill (Terry) and Alan (Jannicke), and her seven grandchildren; Tristan (Darcie), Alison, Hannah, Brian, Hailey, Sterling & Erik, and three great-grandchildren; Kennedi, Brynlei & Strider. She is also survived by her siblings Ruth Hatch, Mary Ida Bush, Bill Steele, and Vonnie Steele. She was a loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, and will be missed by all. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10am, with visitation one hour prior.
