I want to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to all the family members,friends and neighbors that Gary knew throughout his life time who expressed such heartfelt memories in honor of Gary. I cannot thank you enough for all that you did in making his Celebration of Life so beautiful.
May God Bless each and everyone of you for being a part of his life. Gary was a person  that truly enjoyed his life and enjoyed those who were a part of it.

Gary and I worked together at Yamaha Golf Cars and although we didn't always agree on everything I respected him and missed him when he retired. A lot of us in the golf car industry knew what a great salesman Gary was and probably learned a bit from him. My deepest sympathy for Sandy and all his family.

I am so sad to learn of Gary's passing, he was one Hell of a guy. He will be missed by all of us..

You will always be my Super Hero. You were the best Dad ever. Such a blessing to see my Mother loved unconditionally and in a grand way. My world will never be the same without you. I'm going to miss that pirate smile everyday until I see you again. God will have the biggest Angel wings waiting for you. Your giving heart touched so many lives. My heart is forever broken to never again have the chance to remind you of what a Great Man you are.

I am truly sorry about your loss. It was a blessing from God to have been allowed the privilege of me meeting my Uncle Gary.  I will always remember him as a very kind, and very cool person. The coolest Uncle I have ever known!.

Grandpa, I am so sad that you are gone. It still doesn't feel real. When I think about you, I can't help but smile. You were so kind and so much fun to be around. Your Christmas Eve parties and river shenanigans were the best.

Thank you for your love for the river. It allowed for so many of us to get together and have a lot of fun and make lasting memories.

Thank you for trying to teach me how to water ski. Even though it was a major fail on my end. Lol

Thank you for being so welcoming and friendly to anyone extra we brought with us to the river.

Thank you for some of the most yummiest brunches we have been to. 

Thank you for being there for us when Maverick was born. I know seeing such a tiny baby was a shock and scary, but thank you for caring and visiting us when we needed the love and support.

But most of all thank you for giving me my mom. She has your smile and your loving and positive attitude. 

I love you and will miss that bright smile you had. 
I wish I could hear "Hi, sweetie!" One more time. I wish I could give you one more big hug. I will miss you dearly. ❤

My name is Jim Dunn and Gary was my friend.

I met Gary when we were about 13 years old. We were beginning 7th grade at Lampson Elementary School in Garden Grove, CA and we were the only two students in the school that had to share a book locker.

Before 911, students entering 9th grade had individual lockers for their books, gym clothes and jackets beginning in Junior High. Attendance was growing in the school so a few students were required to share lockers.  Gary and I were paired up into one locker and neither of us were especially happy, we grudgingly got along.

Over time we did become friends and Gary was a friends friend, I was shy and Gary outgoing, he pulled me into life and all that it had to offer.

At about 14 years old we visited his grandmother in Portland OR. We traveled alone on the Amtrak train, befriended a Black Porter who we thought was our new best friend. We must have been his worst nightmare, he was the first black man I had ever seen, we had fun traveling, a grand time at his grandmothers, she treated us as her own, it was a wonderland of hunting with a rifle, climbing, walking everywhere. Best vacation any 14 year old could have and I was with my best friend.

We did many things I won't talk about. We were active, a little wild, no stone unturned, no experience unexperienced, no boundary not broken, we lived through it all and had all of our body parts intact.

Gary's very best gift to me is my wife Virginia. We were 15 years old and Gary heard of a evening birthday party at some girls house, neither of us new her, we weren't invited but it was a party so Gary took me on yet another great adventure. We crashed the party, entered like we were expected, scouted out the girls and danced all night. My dance partner was Virginia, we kind of likes each other and were married four years later.

As young married couples we were fast friends, had our children together, worked at the same company at times, worked in the same industry for most of our adult years. Never, ever, was Gary anything less than the very best friend a man could have.

I don't remember when or why we began to move in different directions and spend less and ultimately no time together, life does that to people. Yet in-spite of our distance, I always knew that Gary would do anything I needed, he was simply a phone call away.

My hope and prayer is that I will spend eternity with my lifetime friend. Freed of our earthly bodies we will experience all of creation together, forever.

Dear Sandy & Family, we are so sorry to hear of Gary's passing may all the great memories of life shared give you strength at this time. We will miss Gary's welcoming when we arrive from Canada. He was such a gentle spirit and will be missed

They say the world is your oyster and if we are each just a grain of sand, it is amazing that you have touched so many lives with such a positive impression. Dad your oyster left so many pearls.  Your journey wasn't long enough but was well spent.  You made life a party and I feel blessed to have been on your guest list.  I will miss you and that great smile. I love you.

I don't know what to say.  I am heart broken.  He was like my own family and he was Dales brother.  We did so many thing together in the past years.  We always love our vacations and visits together.  He was always so welcoming with the "Well Hello what can i get you to drink.  I have so many fun memories with you both.  I will never forget our breakfast we had.  They made the mistake of setting us in the bar area at Charlie Browns.   We drank up all there Champagne plus a few rounds of creeping charlie drinks.  They moved us to clean around us for the dinner crowd.  Breakfast lasted from 10am to 7:30pm.

So sorry to hear of Gary's passing.  May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences for the Barnes family and

inspiration to take on the day. I especially enjoy 

recalling when Sandy and Gary would vacation here 

at the River condo, basking in the sun on their 

rafts. Day after day browning, breaking away only 

shortly to replenish their refreshing cocktails. I 

will miss you my friend and hold the spirit of you 

with me.

Sweet Grandpa Gary. You were not truly mine, but you always made me feel like family and so special to say the least. From the moment I met you, I knew I was in the presence of a great man. You were the roots to every good family moment and I loved spending the time we had together. I felt honored to hear your stories and history behind your life and I only wish heaven had visiting hours so I could hear one more. Love you and miss you.

Our deepest condolences to Sandy and the family. Our interactions with Gary, whether while walking Monet or in the cool of the evenings, were always a pleasure. His gentleness, kind demeanour and pleasant manner will be missed by Karen and I.
