

RAYMER, Gordon Elbert, 94, CDR, USN (Ret), passed away on April 26, 2019. Naval Officer, Test Pilot, Christian, Cursillista, husband of Dorothy, Civil Engineer, Aeronautical Engineer, Kappa Sigma, Teacher, father of five sons, grandfather of nine, great-grandfather of five, loving father-in-law, proud American. These few words encapsulate the 94 years and 3 days of Gordon's life. He was a noble man, always honest, always loved. He became a Naval Cadet in 1943 in the middle of Word War II. He earned his Wings and became an Ensign in 1945. He served with honor for 27 years. Retired as a Commander, he served through three major wars. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Burbank, California for 13 years. He loved golf and boating in the Pacific Northwest, and loved his family even more. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Dorothy Walrath Raymer, and by sons, John Franklin, Michael Gordon, Daniel Paul, Thomas George and David Carl. Also surviving are grandchildren, Matthew, Victoria, Samuel, Rachel, Chloe, Richard, Timothy, Justin, and Emma. Great-grandchildren are Jacob, William, Levi, Gavin and Jonathan. A Committal Service will be held on Thursday, May 02, 2019 at 2:00PM, at the National Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 02, 2019 at 4:00 PM at the Advent Episcopal Church, 13150 W. Spanish Garden Dr., Sun City West, Arizona, and a reception will immediately follow.
