Jason was a native of Arizona, born and raised in the Phoenix area. He was a graduate of Moon Valley High School and continued his education at Northern Arizona University, where he studied Broadcasting. Later, he attended DeVry University in the effort of pursuing a career in Information Technology. At the time of his passing, Jason had spent more than 14 years working in the IT Department of Banner Health where he had held several roles in his tenure, including Desktop Engineer and IT Project Coordinator.
If you knew Jason for even a short time, you would have likely seen his genuine smile and experienced his contagious sense of humor. He dearly loved to laugh and sought to make others laugh with him. If you knew him a little longer, you’d have found that he enjoyed almost all sports, but he loved NFL football most of all and was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to sports, Jason enjoyed traveling and pursued hobbies in woodworking, pottery and honing his skills on the grill and smoker.
Jason deeply loved his family and had many longtime friends that he considered family. His memory will live on and be cherished by those closest to him including his wife of 22 years, Arlene, their sons Joshua and Matthew, and his parents, John and Patricia Sterner. Joining his immediate family in their grief are his extended family members, Gilbert and Carmen Maish, Gilbert and Heather Maish, Benjamin and Elisa Maish and Michelle Bundros, 14 nieces and nephews, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at Desert Springs Community Church on Saturday, November 12th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jason’s memory to the ministries of Brian & Denice Gandy (Global Training Network) https://gtn.org/who/brian-and-denice-gandy?rq=Brian%20Gandy or Wade & Shannon Cooperrider (BBFI Missionaries) https://donate.bbfimissions.com/
