

Jean was born on June 27, 1952 to Albert "Hap" and Thelma Haenfler, in Cherokee, Iowa. Jean graduated high school from Willow Community School in Quimby, Iowa and earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.
On December 18, 1971, Jean married her college sweetheart, Craig Lloyd Schlinz. Jean and Craig became FBI Special Agents, graduating from the FBI Academy together in 1976. Jean was among the first 100 women Special Agents to join the FBI and served in the Los Angeles Division, FBI Headquarters, Houston Division, and Little Rock Division. In 2002, Jean and Craig retired from the FBI in Los Angeles and relocated to Holstein, Iowa to be close to family. In 2006, Jean and Craig moved to Surprise, Arizona.
Jean is survived by her husband, Craig, her three children: Jeremy Schlinz, of Ocala, Florida; Jennifer Schlinz of Scottsdale, Arizona; Emily Schlinz, of Phoenix, Arizona; one granddaughter; her sister, Julie (David) Jurgens of Surprise, Arizona; and her two nieces: Tracy (Ryan) Lester of Evergreen, Colorado and Tricia Graham of Indianapolis, Indiana. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, and brother James "Jim" Haenfler.
Jean will be remembered for her delicious meals and her kind heart. Jean enjoyed playing piano, knitting, and spending time with her granddaughter. Jean was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
