

Ruth Myrtle Smothers departed this earth September 1, 2012 at 12:15 pm. She's now home with the Lord. She was the only child of Bessie and William McClure. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 22, 1922. Her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, when Ruth was a little girl. There she and her family attended Friendship Baptist Church, where Ruth confessed Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at 11 years of age.
She married Fred Douglas Smothers on March 13, 1939. They attended Liberty Hill Baptist Church and later Harvest Baptist Church. She was a member of Liberty Hill Gospel Chorus and later became a member of the Euclid Ave. Congregational Church Choir in Cleveland.
Ruth worked for 22 years at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland in their microbiology lab and retired from this position.
Ruth moved to Phoenix in July 1985 where she became a member of Sweetwater Church. It was there she met and fellowshipped with many Messianic believers in Jesus Christ. She later joined Grace Bible Church where she was a member until she passed away.
Ruth and Fred were the parents of 4 children, Two have preceded her in death along with her husband, Fred Smothers. She is survived by:
2 Children - Muriel Baldwin and Allyn Smothers
3 grandchildren - Cerese Chassang, Kevin Baldwin & Isaac Smothers
3 great grandchildren - Cassie, Jakob & Kaleb
The family, Muriel , Allyn, Cerese & Kevin would like to thank all caregivers and friends who loved her. The family would also like to thank Grace Bible Church for the love and kinsness expressed to us during Ruth's passing. My God belss all oy you.
