

Wayne Elwood Beach, 86 of Surprise, Arizona passed away on November 30, 2021. He was born to Vernon and Evelyn Beach on July 17, 1935 in Chicago. After service for the US Army in Germany, Wayne worked for Western Electric until retirement. He married Mary Hurley in 1963 and together they raised two sons. As a father, Wayne enjoyed attending his boys’ sporting events, playing catch with them and going on family road trips across the country. Later, he met and married Bernice Jelinek in 1989. After Bernice passed away, Wayne retired and moved to Arizona. He then met Marge Anderson, whom he married in 2004 and they shared many happy memories including going to the gym together, weekly date nights, and traveling.
Wayne loved baseball and played at a high level in his youth and as part of the Army’s baseball team. After moving to Arizona, he became a passionate golfer and was on the course four days a week. He was in good shape and exercised almost every day. He bought a baseball hat at every place he visited and amassed a collection of over one hundred hats. Wayne will be remembered for his sense of humor, practical jokes, devotion to Catholicism, and pride in his sons and grandchildren who lovingly called him Pop.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Marge Beach of Surprise, his sons Jeff Beach (Theresa) of Scottsdale and Greg Beach (Marion) of Palo Alto, grandchildren Erik Beach, Anna Beach, Max Beach and Gus Beach, brother Alan Beach (Kathy) and sister Suzanne McDonough, as well as many nieces and nephews.
