It is with deep sadness that the loving family of Andrew Graham Waddell announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, May 7th, 2015, at the Surrey Hospice-Laurel Place. Andrew was born September 20th, 1918 in Prince Rupert, B.C. He leaves, with 66 years of precious memories, his devoted and loving wife, Iris. Grateful for Dad’s guidance and love throughout their lives are his daughters, Wendy Jane (Douglas) and Suzanne. As proud Papa, Andrew celebrated each milestone reached by his precious grandchildren, Matthew (Mallory), Melissa, Breanne (Steve), Mark (Krystal) and Kaitlyn (Ben). With absolute delight, he welcomed his first great grandchild, Elianna, who brought him endless joy and laughter. Andrew was a powerful influence in the lives of many, throughout his life. His devotion to family, his determination and dedication in his working life and his loyalty to friends provided all of us with a wonderful role model. Andrew was a loving son to Lottie and George Waddell and a devoted and loyal brother to Jack and David. Many stories were shared about their early days in Prince Rupert and then in Vancouver. Andrew was a proud veteran, with six years of service in the Canadian Army. After serving during the Second World War, he came home to marry the love of his life, Iris. From their first little home on Paisley Road in North Vancouver, through their days in Kitsilano, Shaughnessey, Richmond, South Surrey and finally in their home in Cloverdale, they have touched the lives of many and have cherished each of the wonderful friendships they have nurtured. Andrew’s family extend heartfelt appreciation for the gentle loving care he received from the wonderful staff at Laurel Place. We are also very grateful for Brother James’ compassionate presence on this final journey.
