Beatrice Mary Rosalie Menu

3 novembre 1935 – 12 février 2021
Avis de décès de Beatrice Mary Rosalie Menu
AUX SOINS DE

Victory Memorial Park & Funeral Centre

Beatrice Mary (Rosalie) Menu passed away peacefully at Menno Home in Abbottsford, BC on Feb 12, 2021.

Rosalie was the eldest daughter of long-time Surrey/Cloverdale residents Joe and Virginia Marron.

Born Nov 03, 1935 in Vancouver BC. Pre-deceased by husband John Charles Menu and sister Margaret Marron. Survived by her son Joseph David Menu and sisters, Virginia (Harry) Delcourt and Joanne Komm. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families.

Rosalie graduated from Lord Tweedsmuir high school 1953.

She began her 50-year Nursing career, after graduating from Nursing school at St Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver. She then drove her VW Beetle to Montreal where she earned a bachelor’s degree from McGill University.

Rosalie’s adventurist spirit took her to Europe where she and a girlfriend traveled throughout Europe in a VW Beetle, before taking a French course in Vienna.

She was a season pass holder and thoroughly enjoyed Expo '67 and Expo '86, spending countless nights enjoying the entertainment & beer garden.

She made pilgrimages to Lourdes, Fatima, Assisi, and Oberammergau.

She traveled to Costa Rica several times and later to her father’s home in Ireland with her sister Joanne. She was proud of her Irish heritage.

She worked as head nurse at St Mary’s hospital in Montreal and would later finish her career as head Nurse of the Extended Care of Peace Arch Hospital, in White Rock, BC.

She was a golfing champ in her retirement years and an excellent, competitive bridge player.

Rosalie was a devout Catholic, an active member of the CWL, and Coordinator of the ‘Martha Group’ Funeral receptions at ‘Good Shepherd’ Church.

A life-long Blood Donor and advocate, she also participated in UBC’s neurocognitive research program for ‘Parkinson’s Disease. Please consider contributions to either cause, in her name.

Special thanks to the loving, dedicated staff at Menno Home, who cared for Rosalie these last 2 ½ years. Particularly during this last year with family visits being extremely limited during COVID-19.

Her funeral service will be private due to pandemic restrictions. She will be layed to rest at Gardens of Gethsemane.

Devoted friend, caregiver, and loving provider, Rosalie was a gift to her family, friends and the patients she cared for in her long and distinguished career as a nurse. We remember her with love.
