Branton (Brant) passed away peacefully on March 20th just shy of his 86th birthday. His daughter Leanne was by his side as he sailed off on his next journey. He is survived by Susan, his loving wife of 61 years, his daughter Leanne (Peter), his son Trevor (Peggy), and his grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Gareth, and Gabrielle. He is also survived by his sister Merrilee (Ev) and a gaggle of nieces and nephews he loved very much.
A gentle man with a ready smile and a laugh, he was easy to be around--—his passions for sailing, music, and science were infectious and will be missed. He cared deeply for his family, always wanting the best for them on their terms and in a way that best suited them.
A lifelong learner and teacher by trade, he taught in Delta his whole career. He enthusiastically took students on nature walks to the forest across from South Delta Secondary and even to Tsawwassen beach at low tide to show them some critter or type of moss. In addition to teaching, he loved music—so much so that he joined the school concert band so that he could make music with the students on Monday afternoons. All who knew Brant understood that the Delta Community Band was a huge part of his life. He played euphonium and travelled with the DCB for many years, at one time even playing in the band with his dad, Percy.
But the most joy he had was living his life with Susan. They were two peas in a pod, never far from each other. They travelled far and wide in retirement. They were always chatting away and having a laugh. They made their house a real home.
We love you dad, and we will miss you.
A Celebration of Life will be held between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m., June 19, 2025, at The Red Barn at Southlands, Tsawwassen, 6333 Market Ave, Delta, BC.
