It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Cathy on October 1, 2017 at her residence in Langley, British Columbia.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Alyssa Laszlo, and Ken Laszlo in B.C.; her mother, Anne Chubaty; sister, Chris Ring (Chuck); and brother, Ron, in Winnipeg, Manitoba; and, brother, Randy (Starla), in Fairmont, Minnesota; as well as her nieces and nephew, Christy Ring, Caitlin Ring (Matthew Isles), Amanda Chubaty and Alex Chubaty. She will also be missed by Coco, her little dog and constant companion. She was predeceased by her father in 1999.
Cathy was born on November 11, 1956 in Vita, Manitoba. She received her education in Winnipeg and graduated from River East Collegiate in 1974. Following graduation she worked at several car dealerships. While at Parkside Ford, she met her husband, Ken Laszlo. They were married in July of 1982 and, shortly after, moved to White Rock, B.C. She then worked for a number of years at Turbo before finding employment at Wes-Can Music Limited in the early 90s. Cathy immensely enjoyed her 20-year career at Wes-Can and the people with whom she worked.
Ken and Cathy’s daughter, Alyssa, was born in 1987 and Cathy embraced the challenges of being a devoted and loving mother. Despite the usual tribulations of parenthood, she found great joy in Alyssa’s accomplishments and was extremely proud of her.
Cathy was a kind and generous individual. She was hard-working, as well as talented and creative. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and making handicrafts. Later, she found joy in cooking and creating her own recipes. She loved collecting beautiful things, from figurines to old silverware and antiques. Whatever she pursued, she pursued with passion.
The family wishes to acknowledge, with love and gratitude, the friendship and support extended to Cathy so unselfishly over the years. In particular, we would like to thank Joe Sallay and Paula Lemke; Suzanne Schultz; and, Guy and Muguette Houde.
In keeping with Cathy’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date in Winnipeg.
Donations, in Cathy’s memory, may be made to the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
