Donna Mary (Nelson) Koropatwa

Donna was born in Balcarres, Sask. moving to Coronach as a young child where she resided until moving to Weyburn, Sask. following graduation in 1966. She met Lorne in Weyburn and they married in 1968. Career paths led them to their first home in North Battleford followed by transfers to Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon, Yorkton and finally to Calgary where they resided for 25 years. In 2015 they moved to BC in the hope the climate and lower elevation would ease her ongoing fight with her disease. Throughout her travels within Saskatchewan, many years in Calgary and going south in the cold winter months, Donna made and maintained many wonderful friendships. Those memories are forever and all our lives will be better for having her in them.

Donna was an amazing mom to her two children Vaughn and Leah and an adoring grandma to her three grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas and Jeffrey. She spent countless hours with them in Calgary at the lake, going for coffee with the boys and having sleepovers in the basement. Her grandchildren will cherish those memories forever. She was also an adored Baba Donna to her son in law and puzzle partner Mike.

Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her daughter Leah (Mike) her adored and cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas and Jeffrey. She is also survived by her brother Garry (Lorraine) sister in law Jos (Darwin) and sister in law Barb as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son Vaughn, parents Henry and Joyce Nelson, brother David, sisters Shirley and Debbie.

Donna battled with COPD for 25 years. The last few years were incredibly hard but she never stopped fighting. She was truly a shining example of the physical and mental strength she had within her throughout the ongoing struggle.

Due to COVID restrictions, a service will be held in Calgary in the Spring of 2022.Details will be made available at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Lung Association - 502- 885 Meadowlands Drive, Ottawa Ontario, K2C 3N2.
