It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Eileen Hildegarde Teichman (née Giese), born on May 25, 1928, in Golden Spike, Alberta. Eileen passed away on September 1, 2025, at Melville Hospice Home in South Surrey. She was raised in Stony Plain, Alberta, and was part of a large family— the fifth of ten children.
She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Mary Giese; her husband, Paul; her son, Terry; and her grandson, Chris. She is survived by her son Allan (Dawn), daughters Debbie (Ean) and Candy (Ken), eight grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Eileen and Paul worked side by side on their farm, which later became a ranch. She not only helped manage the home and farm, but was also an excellent baker—famous for her butter tarts—a skilled cook, and a talented knitter and crocheter.
After selling the ranch, Eileen and Paul moved from Prince George to White Rock/South Surrey, where they purchased a condo and lived for many years. They later bought a camper van and spent several years traveling and exploring the U.S. and Canada with relatives.
Eileen enjoyed playing bingo locally until the hall closed, though she still appreciated the occasional casino night. She also loved hosting card nights, where friends and family could enjoy her baking and other homemade treats.
Eileen lived independently for 32 years after Paul’s passing, until her health declined and she moved to a retirement living home, and eventually to Melville Hospice Home.
As per her wishes, the family will hold a private memorial service.
